Diaphragmatic Breathing:

This type of breathing encourages the child to drop the diaphragm down and expand the belly to intake a full breath of air instead of expanding or breathing from the shoulders or upper respiratory system.  This type of breathing is more efficient for speech production and has a calming effect on the nervous system.
