Goal: Answer "Why" Questions

Sample Goal:

During a 10-minute conversation sample, Client will appropriately answer “why” questions on at least 80% of observed opportunities (times when the client is asked a “why” question).

Therapy Phases:

  1. Answer “Why” Questions about Function: Client will answer “why” questions about the function of objects or places (such as, “why would you need a flashlight” or “why do you go to the grocery store”) with at least 80% accuracy.
  2. Answer “Why” Questions about People’s Motivations: Client will answer “why” questions about someone’s motivation in a scenario (such as, “why did she close the door”) with at least 80% accuracy.
  3. Answer Hypothetical “Why” Questions: Client will answer hypothetical “why” questions  (such as “why do we sleep”) with at least 80% accuracy.
  4. Answer Mixed “Why” Questions in Unstructured Conversation: During a 10-minute conversation sample, Client will appropriately answer “why” questions on at least 80% of observed opportunities (times when the client is asked a “why” question).
