Possible Diagnoses:
- Cluttering (excessive use of fillers plus rapid rate)
- Language Problems (word finding problems or language formulation problems)
- Avoidance (using fillers to avoid an oncoming stutter or sound that the child has difficulty with)
How to Differentiate:
- Look for other markers or symptoms of cluttering:

- Check their ability on word-finding and language organization tasks:

- Look for patterns of when the child uses the fillers. Does it always happen before other speech or fluency problems?
How to Treat:
Once you have identified the root cause (or causes), address them with therapy as normal.
