How To Treat Backing
- Minimal Pairs (use the ones from fronting) to increase awareness
- Try having them say with minimal pairs
- If they can’t do it, then placement cues and isolation work and increase syllables
-Show them the spot to put their tongue (touch it for tactile feedback)
-Smear something sticky on that spot
-Have child put tongue there and then say the sound
-Start with /n/ and then add /d/ to end
-Start with /s/ and then add /t/ to end
-Practice in isolation and then nonsense syllables - Practice words with k/g and d/t so child can make the difference
- Move to phrases, sentence, and then conversation
