1.) Talk about topic maintenance and why it is important.
2.) Practice in speech room
- Group / Pairs of students if possible, if not, use yourself as partner
- Buzzer (app or actual thing) in middle
- Place topic card in middle
- Each person talks about topic. If the other person strays, you push the buzzer
- Provide distractions to make it harder
3.) Practice out of speech room
- Do some activity in other locations, like lunch room or classroom where there are more distractions
- Add peers if possible
4.) Provide reminders during conversational speech
