Don’t start using longer utterances until have a certain number of words
Make sure they have a variety of word types
-Nouns
-Verbs
-Descriptors
-Recurrence
-Nonexistence
-Refusals
-Demonstratives
-Locatives
-Possessives

2. Increase use of grammatical markers

3. Use expansions

Add one word to what the child said
