WEEK 4 will begin on July 27th, 2020. We will send you an email when it is ready for you!
Welcome to Week 3 of Flexible Location Therapy!
So far in our Summer Reset, we’ve talked about establishing teletherapy-friendly stimulus materials and getting set up for teletherapy. This week, we’re moving on to a topic you’re likely more familiar with . . . Getting set up for in-person therapy!
I’ll start with a disclaimer: Some of you may already totally have your stuff together for this section. I’d still encourage you to watch the video, check out the workbook, and then decide whether you can benefit from any of the strategies in this section.
One note as you’re deciding whether this section applies to you or not: It’s worth considering whether the stimulus materials you currently use for in-person therapy will allow you to easily switch over to teletherapy.
Most SLPs use physical stimulus materials in in-person therapy. While we’re sure your stimulus materials are awesome, physical materials can make Flexible-Location Therapy more challenging than it needs to be. The key to being able to swap from in-person therapy to teletherapy seamlessly is using materials that will work well for both.
If the idea of using teletherapy-friendly stimulus materials in your regular therapy stresses you out, don’t panic! We’ve got your back. Just click the video below to get started!
ASSIGNMENT: Get Set Up For In-Person Therapy
CHECKLIST
Decide how you’re going to access your online stimulus materials during in-person sessions.
Think about whether you’ll need to have these available on a laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.
Choose your reinforcers.
Jot down ideas of things that are in your physical space, or things you want to make to have in your physical space.
Think about activities like games, toys, pretend play, busy bags, and books. Choose resources that won’t take up a lot of time and that will allow your client to practice their skill.
You can check out some of our favorite games and toys (and tips for keeping them organized!) here.
